>SMM spoke with Kelly Hammonds about possibilities for an upcoming band trip.  She suggested either something that might correspond with a St.Patrick's Day performance or waiting until June, soon after school was out. She would like the trip to last approximately 4 - 5 days and cost no more than $800 per person, but less might be better if possible.  Will forward information to Bryan for his input.

>SMM spoke with Kelly about possible trip options.  She is leaning towards a trip that is more "exciting" since band numbers are down after the difficult previous year. The dates allowed are anytime during the last week of March. This could include the weekend before or the weekend after. Kelly would like to consider Busch Gardens in Florida as an option.  Will contact Bryan to explore this possibility.  Note: this week begins band camp for Montour

>SM called Kelly Hammond.  She will call back... She sounds completely frazzled and said she was feeling overwelmed with her new cyber-school job.

>SM spoke to both Kelly Hammond and Nancy Maslakowski this week about planning an upcoming trip.  Kelly apparently had been putting me off and informed me she has been speaking with Tom Presto about either a 4 day Bahamas cruise  (wants to keep it under $900-950) or a 4 day NYC trip (under $650-700).  No set dates have been established, but the latest was the last weekend in April.  Nancy informed me that she had no idea about who Kelly was trying to use for this trip and thinks maybe this stemmed from her involvement with the Ambridge band when she was assistant director.  Nancy says the parents DO NOT want a cruise.  She says the band festival next weekend has been all consuming and she and I will talk soon after, but that she will talk to Kelly today about this.  She also says that the parents WILL insist on more than one bid, so this is NOT over at all.  Nancy says they are happy with Kelly, but that there is a slight lack of dialogue in some matters (this being a great example).

We have officially decided against the cruise.  The school board was very concerned that the students would not be covered by their insurance out of the country and also that if a student were to get sick on the island, they could not be flown back to the states for treament without a passport.
 
We have been throwing around a few ideas this week as we as a staff have been discussing.  We wanted to get your ideas as far as performance opportunities and approximate cost.  We are thinking of NYC again, D.C./Baltimore, Boston, Nashville, and Virginia Beach/Busch Gardens.  It kind of depends also on what we will do next year.  If we keep it smaller this year then we can take a larger trip next year, maybe even around Christmas time.  Just some thoughts.  Let me know what you think.  Thank you

>BJS and SM met with Kelly and Kim (band parent president) last night to discuss new trip options for this spring as well as a larger trip for next school year.  As of now, Kelly seems to be leaning towards Myrtle Beach and requested availability and prices for performance opportunities during the last week of April.  Festival options and prices follow:

>SM left VM for Kelly Hammond regarding a decision on destination.  Received at text from her last night confirming that she would like to stay at the Great Wolf Lodge.  SM relayed this via email to BJS.

>SM received text inquiring about when a proposal for a Virginia trip could be prepared.  BJS advised that one could be done by late tomorrow.

>SM has been in contact with Kelly Hammond via text (her email is not working well).  She would like to start pre-planning for next school year.  Options to consider:  Disney in December, or perhaps Gatlinburg or Nashville, possibly sometime in March.  Kelly would like to meet soon to discuss.

>SM and BJS met with Kelly Hammond via GTM  on 3/4/13 to discuss trip options for 2013-2014.  Possibilities included Disney and Universal, Toronto, Nashville, and Gatlinburg.  After a phone conversation today, Kelly indicated that they would most rather go back to Orlando and do a combination of Disney and Universal.  Options for dates could include before Christmas or sometime in February.
